Frequently Asked Questions
A. The effectiveness of the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger is based heavily on the aerosol effectively treating the airspace without hindrance by air movement or physical obstructions. Any movement or recirculation of room air or large obstructions within the room/space can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. Hence, the more open and unobstructed a room/space the more effectively the SafeSpace® treatment. Read the SafeSpace® can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. Though they may appear similar, they are two VERY different products with two VERY different uses. The SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger uses a hospital grade, contact disinfectant that is formulated specifically to kill "germs" (virus, bacteria, etc.). Where an aerosol bug bomb uses an insecticide to kill insect pests (roaches, ants, flys, etc.). Though both aerosol products are designed to release an engulfing and penetrating "fog," the products are completely different and should NEVER be confused in their use. These different products DO NOT have ANY common application whatsoever and are NOT interchangeable in any way. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. The SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger will produce enough aerosol to fill 6,000 cubic feet (Cubic feet is the volume of a space, not the square footage). This is roughly equal to a room/space 21 feet long by 21 feet wide, with a 10-foot high ceiling (i.e. a large break room, a kitchen-dining room combo, classroom, hotel room, dining area, adjoining bedroom-bathroom, etc.). You should NEVER EVER use a SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger in ANY enclosed room smaller than 5 feet by 5 feet, with an 8-foot ceiling, such as a furnace room, or water heater closet. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. For safety purposes, minimal inhalation of ANY chemical is ALWAYS the best rule whether handling SafeSpace® or ANY aerosol disinfectant or chemical. This does NOT mean that a brief or accidental inhalation of SafeSpace® or another aerosol disinfectant by a healthy individual is dangerous; it's just always better to minimize the inhalation of ANY chemical compound. Make sure you have a clear and quick departure route from the room to be treated BEFORE setting the Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger in a stable location, atop a sheet of newspaper and activating the SafeSpace® Disinfectant Room Fogger. Make sure the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger nozzle is angled away from your face (and your departure route) at arms length, press and lock the activator lever, then quickly and carefully leave the room, closing the door behind you. Should you forget some item in the room, DO NOT re-enter the room until the recommended settling time has elapsed. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. Any spray, mist, candle or incense placed/used too close to a smoke detector/sensor, (within 6 feet) MAY cause an accidental activation. Just as you can burn candles or spray air fresheners in rooms with smoke sensors, you can also use the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger using common sense with its placement. But if you do have specific concerns/questions about using SafeSpace® in an area where a smoke/security sensor is located, contact your monitoring service provider for guidance BEFORE using SafeSpace®. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. The SafeSpace(R) Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger and/or any other commonly available, residential disinfectant or sanitizer WILL NOT have any residual germ killing ability beyond the time of actual treatment. Newly deposited, living germs may again occupy the disinfected area within minutes of treatment. The best rule is to minimize exposures to germs and use common sense when bringing items into the home that could carry "hitchhiking germs" such as shoes, backpacks, purses and sports equipment and avoid placing them on kitchen countertops, dining tables, beds, etc. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. NO, definitely not! The SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger and/or any other disinfectant is only effective when used AFTER an effective cleaning of the treatment area. In fact, ANY disinfectant is only effective when used properly, and as the final treatment in a regular and effective cleaning program. SafeSpace® and/or any other disinfectant cannot and should not be expected to in any way replace or reduce regular, effective cleaning programs. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. Since the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger is most effective when used appropriately, and as the final step in a regular cleaning program, use SafeSpace® in high traffic areas (bathrooms, break rooms, multi-unit cubicles, common areas, etc.) every time regular cleaning is done. In situations where colds and the flu may be present and the exposure risk is higher, use SafeSpace® daily in all high traffic and common areas. For best results in reducing the spread of colds and the flu, use SafeSpace® in combination with regular and effective hand cleansing (SafeSpace Instant Hand Sanitizer)
and exposure control procedures. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before
using the product.
A. The SafeSpace® Fogger is a commercial aerosol product just like many common deodorants, colognes, air fresheners and hair sprays currently on the market. Additional restrictions regarding the transportation of liquids by airline passengers have recently been adopted for the safety of all airline travelers. Before traveling via air, SafeSpace® recommends checking with the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration
to determine which materials are currently allowed on commercial flights. Obviously, you should NEVER use or handle a SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger while on ANY
operating and occupied airplane, whether in flight or on the ground. And carrying numerous cans of any aerosol or chemical product onto an airplane may require an explanation at check-in or to airport security personnel. Rules are always changing concerning what items may be carried on to a commercial airplane in carry-on luggage. Before putting SafeSpace® in your luggage, contact the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration
for guidance and information.
A. For best results, ALWAYS follow the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label directions EXACTLY. Using any aerosol in ANY manner different from the label directions may create a hazardous situation. Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. YES, definitely. The SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger may be used in almost any appropriate situation as long as you follow the can label EXACTLY. As with humans, animals (and their food) should NEVER be exposed directly to or enclosed with, the released areosol disinfectant. The SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger should NEVER be used on or directed at, any person or animal under ANY circumstance! Read the SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Fogger can label completely and follow the directions carefully before using the product.
A. Retailers want to stock merchandise that is popular and that turns over (sells) quickly, thus providing
better profitability per area of shelf space. Hence, direct requests to store managers by local
customers, has much more influence than SafeSpace® Company asking them to stock products from 3 states
away. If you truly want a retailer to carry SafeSpace products (or any item for that matter), take an
empty can, bottle, or clamshell backer card to your local retailer and give it directly to the store
manager with your request to stock SafeSpace. Encourage your family and friends to do the same with
their regular retailers as well. Believe it or not, YOU the paying consumer, have greatest influence
over what items appear on the shelves of the stores you shop in.
A. You most definitely may. If after purchasing any SafeSpace® product and trying them you are
not completely satisfied with the results, return the unused portion/container(s) of product for a
full refund of your paid purchase. Go to the Company Info/contact page located on the SafeSpace®
website (www.safespaceco.com) for the address where you can send your return. Your refund will be
processed and a refund check issued within 10 (ten) days of receipt of your paid product return at the
noted SafeSpace® office address. Should you have any further questions, concerns or suggestions, please
contact Customer Service at the email address noted on the aforementioned website page.
A. Obviously, we can't answer that question for the other hand sanitizer producers. But I can note that
medical grade alcohol is very, very cheap to produce. And obviously, the less it costs to make a
product, the more profit is gained by all who make, handle and sell that product. The fact is that
alcohol is a very good sanitizing agent, though it usually has a drying effect on skin, particularly
after repeated use. SafeSpace® Instant Hand Sanitizer is no more effective than any other alcohol based
hand sanitizer on the market today. The difference is that SafeSpace® looked at all the other
skin drying sanitizers, and then chose to make our hand sanitizer using 0.2% benzethonium chloride USP
as our sanitizing agent, combined with emollients (lotion) to minimize the removal of natural moisture
from the skin. The SafeSpace goal was to make an effective hand sanitizer that would not dry the skin,
while also making it gentle to the user's skin, which in turn would encourage regular sanitizer use and
reduce contact exposures to infectious pathogens.
A. First, foam is more effectively and quickly absorbed into the skin,
which means less "hand rubbing time." Second, SafeSpace®
chose to use the environmentally friendly, and reusable, finger pump foam despenser to maximize the
hand sanitizer liquid by reducing over application (common with squirting liquid gels) giving you more
value for your money. Third, The SafeSpace® Instant Hand Sanitizer bottle
has a screw cap (actually the finger pump is the removable cap) which can be removed to allow the small
addition (1 or 2 drops, close and shake) of a cologne or perfume to give the hand sanitizer the
favorite scent of the user, again making regular use of a hand sanitizer more desirable.
A. Like you, we have all been subject to the unending bombardment of school fundraiser projects.
Whether, by our own children, our co-worker's children, or by our neighbor's children, we have all been
touched by school fundraising activities. And it's not that any of us don't want to be supportive to the
special needs of our children's schools, it's just that we would all like to buy something more
practical to everyone's life. With this "historical fundraising sensitivity" in mind, the idea
of adapting more practical SafeSpace® products to school fundraising, has been discussed at length
at SafeSpace® Co and is currently being explored. Obviously, having been in the position of "fundraising product warehousing/delivering"
ourselves, our goal will be to make fundraising with SafeSpace® products far less time, space and
vehicle demanding than any "typical" school fundraiser project. Check our website occasionally
for updates on this project.
A. SafeSpace® Company and its disinfectant products are fairly new which may be why you haven't yet heard of us. Check our story "About Us"
A. As mentioned in the FAQs earlier, SafeSpace® disinfectant foggers can be carried in your CHECKED luggage (NOT IN CARRY ON LUGGAGE). Check the NTSB website for current regulations.
A. As discussed in an earlier FAQ, it usually boils down to profit. Alcohol is very cheap to make and very effective at sanitizing skin, though repeated use of alcohol may also wash away the skin's natural oils and allow the cracking of the skin, which in turn allows an entry point for bacteria. SafeSpace® skin sanitizer is 99% effective with NO ALCOHOL (see labels) and even has emollients to soften your skin.
A. The best tip for controlling mold or mildew is to never let it get a toe hold. If you have mold or mildew, it will take more specialized treatment than SafeSpace® to kill it. But, if you are still mold and mildew free and want to stay that way, a combination of normal cleaning, good air circulation and regular use of SafeSpace® room foggers can help keep you that way.
A. Following CDC recommendations combined with reducing your exposure to illness is always the very best practice. Any effort to keep your hands as clean as possible (using SafeSpace® Instant Hand Sanitizer) and minimize exposures to harmful germs and bacteria is always better than no prevention efforts at all. Common sense says, the more you do, the better the prevention, the lower the chances of exposure.
A. Using SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Foggers as a finishing step to a systematic clinical cleaning protocol only enhances the effectiveness of the protocol. Common sense says, the more you do to clean effectively, the more facility bacteria are neutralized and the lower the chances of infections, it's not rocket science.
A. SafeSpace® Disinfectant and Deodorizing Foggers were designed to be used ONLY as label instructions indicate. Any applications of SafeSpace® products outside the clearly prescribed label instructions would be against all SafeSpace® Company recommendations for product use and would be undertaken strictly at the individuals own personal risk.
